Character is defined as a “distinguishing various marks of a person”. The sign which describes whose character it is partly depends on its nature. But largely depends on the family environment and upbringing.

Let’s take an example….
Children are exemplary creatures, they are more influenced by the environment around them. By inculcating the ideas of right and wrong in the mind of the youth.

Secondly, by practicing the power of reasoning on the questions of right and wrong on the part of the children, the child gets the recognition of right and wrong. More or less all men are craftsmen of their own character.

Character: An Imitation

Character depends on imitation, taste, talent and habits. Therefore, for their best development, right environment with right education is essential for the children. In the case of children, imitation is spontaneous and is not linked to reason, but as he grows up he chooses what to do.

Then it’s time to step up to education and point out what’s worthy of emulation and what’s ineligible. And then he will learn to choose the best models for his life.

Character building: Right imbibition

Therefore the ideals of self-restraint, courage, benevolence, honesty, purity should be imbibed continuously for the best existence of the youth. They should be encouraged to read biographies of great men. So that they can be inspired by his example.

Habit Building

Another important factor in character building is habit. And it is stabilized by habit. Just as conduct, so does character shine. For example, the habit of postponing work grows rapidly and will be most difficult to eradicate if it is allowed to gain a firm grip.

In contrast, good habits, though more difficult to form than bad habits. But are within the power of those who are not fundamentally weak. And once the good habit is formed, will be recreated in the production of a healthy person, a worthy citizen, a dutiful son and a wise one.

Imbibing virtues help in greater building of character. It becomes an asset to the self as well as the society. And spiritual education plays the most important role in building a great character.
